I was honored to receive the BA Social Sciences Dissertation Prize for achieving the highest-scoring dissertation in my cohort, earning a First-Class distinction. My dissertation focused on the stereotype of the Strong Black Woman (SBW). I wanted to explore where this stereotype originated, how it is perpetuated through socialisation, especially in the context of motherhood, and how it impacts identity formation and societal perceptions.
